Wildlife Habitat Armidale

Welcome to Play for Nature

The Wildlife Habitat Armidale website

The Wildlife Habitat Group (WHG, an action group of Sustainable Living Armidale) has long promoted being outdoors and actively protecting and conserving native animals and plants in the New England region.

This new site focusses on being outdoors with nature, and most importantly with children. The current physical measures in place due to COVID-19 have inspired us to think about how we can support local families to explore outdoors with children.

We are aware of the importance of outdoor experiences with nature in maintaining well-being for ourselves and the Earth. You can read here how making this an everyday experience for children helps them grow in many ways. Outdoor environments and nature will soon become useful valued parts of a child’s own habitat.

Some local knowledge and activity ideas may be useful to prompt families to venture outdoors with children. We hope you find many possibilities here and add your feedback and interactions to build this website into a community resource.

Please note in undertaking any of these outdoor adventures with children be mindful of the COVID-19 social isolation measures and adhere to current government guidelines.
